Last Easter, just minutes after my student loan had been deposited into my bank account, I decided to go shopping (anybody who knows me will not find this remotely surprising, but I urge you to continue reading!) Anyway, among other things, I stumbled upon this rather delightful floral print dress in Topshop which I instantly fell in love with - a love affair which reached even dizzier heights when I glanced at the price tag and registered that it could be mine for under £20. Before I knew it, I was at the counter and it was only as the word 'Nightwear' flashed up on the screen in front of me that it all suddenly made sense. Not one to be influenced or concerned by labels, I handed over my card and purchased it anyway - after all, if I had confused it for a slightly short but very pretty dress, I'm sure others would too!
In a later phone call to the bff we giggled at my mistake and hypothesised over how many of our other undergarments we would be able to pass off as acceptable daytime clothing before vowing to start an 'underwear as outerwear' trend. It appears that we were not the only ones tempted to parade around in our bras and knickers in the name of fashion, as lingerie dressing has recently been making an appearance on catwalks all over the world...

What do you think - will we all be running around in a state of undress this Spring or is it called underwear for a reason?!Photos - Imaxtree
