With the festive season fast approaching, women all over the world are united in the quest for the perfect party dress.  While the occasions may vary hugely in their nature and dress-code, the desire remains the same - to stand out from the crowd and wow your friends/family/co-workers/neighbour's dogs with your stylish apparel.  In this situation, who wouldn't want to turn up at a party in a one-of-a-kind designer dress?!  For the majority, this prospect has always been a distant fantasy, wildly concocted as they stared longingly at magazine pages or into shop windows, however with Topshop's new 'Dress Me Up' initiative, this dream could now become reality.

The deal is this, if you can get yourself down to the flagship Topshop store at Oxford Circus any time between now and the 6th of December, you can try on any of the extensive range of dresses donated by celebrities and designers, which include, but is not restricted to, those pictured above.  Once your decision has been made - and as far as I'm concerned, picking a favourite from this amazing selection would be the most difficult task! - you can have the dress (or dresses if you're so inclined) of your choice for the night of your event, all for the very reasonable fee of only £40.  If you do decide that you simply cannot bear to be parted with your new favourite dress, the range will be up for auction after the Christmas season and a few lucky women will be able claim permanent ownership of these wonderful garments.

If you're not already convinced that this is the best idea to come out of the fashion industry in decades, add into the equation that neither Topshop nor the contributors are making a penny out of this scheme - it is all in the name of charity, and the proceeds will be split between Age Concern and Help the Aged.  So you can get your hands on a beautiful dress, look fabulous for your Christmas party and do your bit for charity, all at the same time!

Unfortunately I won't be back in England in time to make the most of this offer, but I urge anybody in need of a party dress to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to indulge their sartorial desires whilst also donating to a very worthy cause.

  1. this is an amazing idea (why are we in France?), but I don't know if I'd want to wear a dress that hundreds of girls had partied in...
