Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon, or not at all. - Harriet van Horne.

It is no big secret that I am incredibly rubbish at feeding myself.  While I absolutely love good food and will quite happily cook yummy treats for others, I am totally lacking in motivation and inspiration when it comes to cooking my own meals.  Supermarkets confuse the hell out of me, there is far too much choice and I rather resent spending my money on food when I could instead be donating it to Mr. Topshop.  And anyway, if I'm the only one who's going to get to enjoy the extra effort, I can't help but think why bother?  My time could be much better spent elsewhere - most likely on Facebook!

My wonderful friend Sophie found this whole set-up rather infuriating, she is pretty much my polar opposite in this respect - the girl loves to cook and was rather distressed by finding herself resident in a kitchen-free hotel for five months during our stay in Lyon.  While I had a perfectly good kitchen that I absolutely refused to utilise, she was struggling to cook pasta in a metal jug...  Until suddenly a solution occurred to both of us - I'd happily grant her access to my kitchen in return for a plateful of whatever delicious dish she happened to be concocting.  And so began a happy collaboration involving my kitchen, her amazing cookery skills and my very happy stomach.

Anyway, fast forward a few months and Sophie and I are now both in Spain - unfortunately in different cities so I have reverted to a diet of pasta with pesto and salad.  However, my loss is her gain; she now has a fully functioning kitchen and the opportunity to be culinarily creative.  An opportunity which has inspired her to fulfil the long-term ambition of starting a food blog - and not just any food blog, but one which dedicates its very first recipe to yours truly!

So, go check it out noooow - The Ever-Changing Kitchen - if my experiences of Sophie's cooking are anything to go by, you will not be disappointed!!

  1. Awwwww, thanks you boob! I am most honored. Hopefully I can get a few more recipes up that will not require any oven (and are perhaps pea-free?) in the near future.
    Miss you!
